Kalamax, the Stormsire:

Few creatures are as catastrophically destructive as Kalamax, an elemental dinosaur capable of unleashing torrents of earth-shattering lightning.

This Green-Blue-Red Commander wanders as it pleases, throwing out enough chaotic energy to power a city—or demolish one. It’s capable of levelling mountains, and whole horizon lines are changed in the wake of its passage.

Ramp up Spells:

Arcane Maelstrom is all about casting and copying larger and larger instant spells.

The deck is full of instants that can suddenly turn the tide of any battle alongside creatures that are right at home in the middle of a magical storm.

Introducing Partners:

In the world of Ikoria, some people form a special, magical bond with a monster. Haldan, Avid Arcanist and Pako, Arcane Retriever share such a bond—as well as simply being best friends.

Haldan is a Wizard who travels the world searching for new kinds of magic, while Pako helps sniff out Ikoria’s powerful crystals (often consuming the extra magic it finds). These partners are good at digging through your opponents’ libraries for tasty spells and letting you cast them for yourself!
